Ongoing Project
The Horror Autotoxicus is an ongoing interdisciplinary series by AM Hoch including paintings on canvas, original text, and horror ballads, which will ultimately be combined in installations and film.
The Horror Autotoxicus was the original name given to autoimmune disease in the 19th century when it was first discovered—a befitting flower of our civilization that has blossomed over the last hundred years. Disease, like poetry, operates on many levels at once: communicating on the miniscule and the grand scale, springing from invisible realms, and revealing hidden truths about our culture and our selves.
